My book cover for Chinua Achebe's Things Fall Apart, I found reading this in high school to be a really fresh perspective from the classic American or European literature that public schools usually teach. It's a truly tragic story, but it highlights the reality of colonization and the invasion of missionaries into Africa that still causes deep harm to the continent's cultures today.
The original cover art for Achebe's book is striking, so I held on to that attention-grabbing graphic look. If the deadline were later, I would've liked to use linocut techniques to create each layer of the picture: the mask and its details, fire, and the background.
